Alrighty, so most of you know my deep and unending love for animals.
Sometimes I wish I had gone to vet school. I would have taken it a step further, though, and become a wildlife vet or something ridiculously cool like that. (Geez, how many dreams does this girl have?!) Unfortunately, there's a downside to adoring animals. When you see images or videos of their torture and pain, it completely guts you.
While I was in Canada, I started doing a lot of research on, wait for it, eeshk. Vegan. Gah, I said it (typed it). It's something that's been weighing on my heart and mind for a long while now, but I am under no illusions of how frigging hard being vegan is. Especially since my body tends to lean toward enjoying my gluten free status. No meat? No bread? Fuckity fuck.
It's also not something I want to push on other people. I think everyone can make their own decisions, and if it is something I end up pursuing, I won't be one of those annoying assholes telling you you're a murderer every other post. Now, if you're going to SeaWorld or the Circus (adios Barnum & Bailey, you twits) we have other problems.
I like to take baby steps toward a lot of goals (this isn't always the best option). Like starting with going meatless one day a week. And how fun is it to say Meatless Mondays?! WOOT! Sorry, my enthusiasm is for the animals.
Since I'm new to this way of cooking, I haven't quite mastered my own meatless recipes in the kitchen. But I did explore and experiment with the three below. AND? Delicious! Let me know what you think!
