Alrighty. If you're reading this, you slayed (slew?) Monday. You looked Monday in the eye, and you said "NOT TODAY SATAN!"
You made Monday your biotch. If you're reading this, the dreaded day is almost over. Because I post my blogs in the evening. Sorry about that. Maybe I should have written this in the morning before you attacked your day? Yeah, that was probably the way to go.
Did some of you get stomped on by Monday? Did your eyes peek open this morning and your first thoughts were "shit, shit, shit, shit?"
Either way, I am here for you. I'm here to pump you up, pat you on the back, dry your tears, eat ice cream with you. I'm here to motivate you into tomorrow, and next week, and next month. Just know, it won't always be easy. Sometimes we kick and scream the entire way to new beginnings, to change. Because change is hard. And scary. And hard.
Today marked attempt 8,497 at living a healthier lifestyle. I have follow-through issues. I'm aware of them. I've been seeing a new GI doctor because my stomach and intestines are "difficult" to say the least. He had me participate in what he calls the "milk challenge". You drink a quart of milk in 30 minutes and then watch what happens. Simple, yeah? After the first couple of sips, I was immediately congested. After finishing the quart... well, I'll just leave this right here.
So, that was interesting. Did you know that 50% of people that are Lactose Intolerant are also Sucrose & Fructose intolerant? If you have a bad reaction to the milk challenge, my doc says to do the same thing with a quart of juice. You might just be intolerant to sugar also. (AGH!)
So day 1, no dairy... weeeeeee. And cutting back on sugar...weeee (F WORD).
I also started my day off with swimming laps at the YMCA I am a member of. I grew up on a year-round swim team. I swam a lot. Many hours, many miles a day. I made it 30 minutes today before my arms gave out like the limp little noodles they are. Seriously, they just seized on up and quit working. I had to Shamu myself out of the pool.
But, I went. And it was just what I needed to get this Monday kick-started. I might need to remember, though, that typing requires arm strength, of which I apparently have none.
What motivates you? Did you spend your Sunday getting ready for today? Or were you like me and spent the better part of the day binge-watching Criminal Minds on Netflix (seriously, why did no one tell me how good that show is??) Do you make lists? Or are you a rock star who jumps out of bed saying "I GOT THIS!"?
Whatever works for you, here are some happy things to get you through the rest of your Monday and every other day this week until Friday afternoon.
-This article from The Everygirl Blog is fantastic and something I'd like to try (which I'm sure has Jimmy rejoicing).
-I finally watched Moana for the first time (it's on Netflix). I loved it, and I have the entire soundtrack stuck in my head! This video and rendition is everything.
-I just bought these pens (because pens are life), and I LOVE them. **Disclaimer: I realize I can no longer make purchases like these now that I've read The Everygirl article from above. Damnit.**
Until next time,
